The VST folding front sight and gas block is an all-steel, flip-up design, with a spring loaded dual-plunger detent. There is no lock. If hit, the sight will fold down, rather than damage a locking mechanism. It incorporates a QD sling swivel cup mount, and uses an AK front sight post.

Despite the VST-1's solid construction, it only weighs about a half of an ounce more than a standard A2 front sight tower. The VST-1 is currently available in cross-bolt clamp design (VST-1C) and a taper pin retained version is currently being tested.

With the various rail systems currently being offered for the AR15/M16/M4 weapon system, the Vltor Low-Profile Gas Block is small enough to fit inside most rail systems. These gas blocks are an excellent replacement for the archaic fixed sight tower gas block, which has been the standard since the early 1960's.

The Vltor Low-Profile Gas Block covers one-inch of the barrel's surface and is made to the tightest tolerance. These gas blocks are offered in two materials, 4140 carbon steel and 17-4PH stainless steel. The 4140 gas blocks are manganese phosphate (black finish) to match barrels with similar finish. The stainless steel gas blocks are blasted to give a matte gray finish.

This "piggy-back" mounted handguard system has a removable lower handguard which allows the mounting of an M203 grenade launcher. At this time, we offer only the Extended Length model which was specifically developed to fit the M4 carbine or the CQB (10.3-inch barrel) configured flat top upper receiver assembly. The CASV-EL was designed and manufactured solely for the US Navy. After fulfilling the Navy contracts, we now offer this system to the Civilian sector.

This CASV chassis is made entirely of aluminum with exception to the stainless steel mounting hardware. After mounted, the CASV adds less than 1lb to the firearm's overall weight.

Installation note: The installation of this handguard does not require any modifications to the firearm except for the removal of the sight tower sling swivel (if your carbine is equipped with one).

The VIS is a polylithic upper receiver assembly that ties the normally individual receiver and handguard into an aggregate single part. This combination overcomes many problems that are associated with the traditional "two piece" design, most notably being greatly improved structural strength and repeatable accuracy; while affording the user the benefits of a free-floating barrel and rock solid railed fore end.

Installation and legal note: The installation and the assembly of the VIS kit should be performed by a qualified gunsmith and/or certified armorer. Each kit comes with a barrel nut installation spanner wrench.

Each kit contains the following:
